6 Ways to Correctly Care For Your Wood Watch - Part 1

Your wooden sunglasses can take a tremendous amount of use but just to make sure that it will stand the tests of time, we have a few tips to make sure it can last for the ages.

1. Cleaning - Keeping your precious wood watch clean and free from dirt and dust is essential for the keeping the watch functioning for many years to come. We understand that most people rarely take off their watch in fear of losing it or simply because they feel naked without a watch on, which we totally understand. Your watch comes in contact with so many things each day and all of the little gaps and crevices can easily pick up dirt and debris that can be harmful for a watch if not cleaned on a regular basis.

    A. Cleaning the Wood Case:

i.Mix a teaspoon of olive oil and lemon juice into a small platter and mix well. (This will help sanitize and clean the case to the oils and dirt that it has been exposed too.)

ii.Once they have mixed, take a q-tip or soft cotton cloth and gently apply to the wood part of the watch.

iii.Once it has been applied to all of the wood part of the watch, wipe away access residue with dry cotton cloth.

    B. Cleaning The Leather Strap: (For best results, remove watch strap from the case before cleaning.)

i.Use a damp clean cloth to wipe down the entire surface.

ii.Gently scrub the areas that may need a little more attention.

iii. After you have wiped down the strap you can apply a small amount of hand soap or saddle soap to help restore the color and softness to the leather.

iv.Finally, use a clean cloth again to wipe away access soap from the surface. We suggest letting the strap dry completely before re-attaching it to the watch itself and wearing it.

      2. Setting The Time - Many people are unaware that it is important to set the time correctly on your Wood Watch to keep the mechanics and movement of the watch functioning correctly. Follow the simple steps below and you will be all set:

ii. When setting the time, take your watch off your wrist to minimize stress on the crown of the watch.

ii. Gently pull out the Crown of the watch from its locked position.

iii. Rotate the Crown away from you until you arrive at the correct time. DO NOT set the time going counter-clockwise. (Going the reverse direction can have a detrimental impact on the interior movement of the watch.)
